At the end of every semester the musical theater classes participate in a public showcase of their work. These showcases serve as fundraisers for the musical theater program.

DIRECTING, CHILDREN’S THEATER, PLAYWRITING, DEVISED THEATER SHOWCASES
DVC Drama offers a variety of classes including Directing, Children’s Theater, Playwriting, and Devised Theater. These courses end with a public showcase of the work created throughout the semester. These showcases serve as fundraisers for the drama department.

DVC and DVC Drama offer special events throughout the year that showcase professionals within the entertainment industry Some of those events have included:
- “Mingus Remixed” directed by Broadway actor and Tony nominated Delroy Lindo and featuring Obie and Olivier Award winner Barry “Shabaka” Henley
- Emmy nominated and Peabody Award winner W Kamau Bell
- “Jungle Bells” featuring Obie and Olivier Award winner Barry “Shabaka” Henley

KENNEDY CENTER AMERICAN COLLEGE THEATER FESTIVAL
DVC Drama is proud to participate in the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF). KCACTF brings together thousands of students to compete in acting, directing, musical theater, playwriting, devised theater, improv, and technical theater. DVC Drama has a long list of student winners who have achieved national honors at the festival. DVC Drama students have won full scholarships, professional internships, and industry job opportunities. Our students have also participated in KCACTF workshops in devised theater, technical theater, and diversity in theater. Some of DVC Drama honors include:
- National Irene Ryan Winner – James Udom
- Shows such as The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Hairspray, and Into the Woods were selected to present scenes at the festival.
- The shows The Farnsworth Invention & The Pillowman were selected to perform at the festival.
- The Pillowman won 7 National Awards
- DVC Drama students have won awards in Dramaturgy, Stage Management, Properties Design, Improv, Devised Theater, and Directing
- DVC Drama students have made it to the final rounds for the Musical Theater, Directing, and Irene Ryan competitions.

DVC DRAMA: TREASURES FROM THE VAULT BENEFIT CONCERT
Treasures from the Vault was a one-night only musical benefit show. Alumni returned to the DVC Drama stage for this fundraising show featuring songs from past DVC Drama musicals to help support the current and future theater students. Featuring musical selections from the DVC Drama Vault: Hairspray, Into the Woods, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Footloose, Seussical and many more!

HIGH SCHOOL TECH THEATER FESTIVAL
In 2023 DVC Drama hosted its first High School Technical Theater Outreach program. Local high school students had the opportunity to take workshops in stage management, stage makeup, lighting, sound, and costuming. Students received hands-on training from DVC technical theater faculty and staff, as well as local technical theater professionals.

PROFESSORS READING PLAYWRIGHTS
Professors Reading Playwrights is a one-night only fundraiser which brings together DVC faculty members from all over the campus to read scenes from a variety of different plays. This showcase serves as a fundraiser for the drama department.
